« Nice convenient place - lack of air-con only issue »
This place does what it says on the tin. We stayed in a 2 bedroom cottage-style chalet over 2 floors with a small galley kitchen. The accommodation was clean, tidy and fairly well equipped. Like the average of most places of this type I have experienced on the island, the rating is probably 3.5 star in terms of the level of what is on offer (décor / equipment / facilities etc.) - however the location is super convenient for the main town and does offer a few things extra such as a small pool that our kids enjoyed using as well as bicycle racks for the inevitable hired push bikes and a small play area that younger kids would enjoy (weather permitting). There is also a ping pong table and trampoline which would prove popular! We didn't take advantage of the breakfast on offer (needs to be booked separately) however what we saw looked pretty good. Nothing on Il de Re could be truly described as 'cheap' - yet this place had a price point that was reasonable given what it offered. The small decked yard area at the front of our accommodation was pleasant to sit in and eat breakfast at the table with sun shade. The one let down was the lack of air conditioning. This was something we were aware of when booking but our error was in underestimating how hot it would be at night - which made sleeping quite difficult and uncomfortable. Other things to note were the helpful and easy check in / out process, the very useful on-site car parking for our hire car and the easy to use but reassuring security gates that made the whole site secure for younger children. Overall a nice place to stay, conveniently located, comparatively reasonable in terms of value for money (for a place on the island) and the staff we dealt with were all polite and friendly (not always a given at some places in St Martin!). Good for a family with kids, albeit noting the caveat about air conditioning - although I am not entirely sure if this was the case for all the accommodation on site, we may have chosen poorly when booking!

« Fantastic stay....10/10 »
Stayed here for a week with other half and 21 month old very active toddler. House was 3 bed 2 bath with plenty of space and living areas. Mini playground at front of house was a godsend. Weather was ideal too for pool. Felt like we had place to ourselves. Very peaceful and owner Fabrice was the perfect host and helped me get to a doctor when I picked up a bad bite. Highly recommended as it has all the comforts of a lovely hotel room with the quiet feel of home. Short 5 min walk to Port and directly on cycle routes. Loved it and would go back for a break anytime. Michelle

« Lovely property, but didn't expect to clean it at the end! »
This little complex is perfectly situated within a ten minute walk from the beautiful port. Everything is very clean and well run, and the hosts will respond quickly to any requests. Breakfast and dinner are available if pre booked and the food is of a very high standard. The accommodation is a little basic and if your property has an enclosed courtyard, it can feel a little oppressive. The properties with gardens are beautiful. We were provided with everything we needed such as bin bags and bottle openers. The pool is warm! On arrival we were informed that the rooms must be cleaned by us at the end of our stay. I asked if I could arrange a cleaner and was told this would be 120 euros, and would not include the kitchen. After paying over 2000 euros for one week we felt this charge was inappropriate.
